Kuwait Cricket organizes basic course for Cricket umpires & scorers |

Kuwait Cricket will be organizing a basic (Level Zero) course for all those who are interested to become either cricket umpires or scorers at some point in time in future.
According to Director General Kuwait Cricket Asad Baig, “the course will consist of 6 sessions starting on 2 nd July and will end on August 06, 2010. The training sessions will be held indoor on Fridays from 1400 to 1900 hours”.
Registration is open to both men and women, with English language proficiency, below 40 years of age. All the participants will be given a “Certificate of Participation” whereas the successful participants will have an opportunity to attend further courses organized by Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
The course will be conducted by senior umpire and ACC Accredited Umpires’ Trainer, Riaz Chaudhry. Other senior umpires from Kuwait Cricket Umpires Panel (KCUP), Farid Khan Dalwai, Irfan Adil, Nadeem Syed, Zahid Usman, John Salomon and Imran Mustafa will also contribute by presenting some laws of cricket.

| Seventy four women cricketers attended the selection trials |

Responding to Kuwait Cricket ’ s invitation, Seventy four women cricketers attended the selection trials at Doha Entertainment city ground on June 5 th as the enthusiastic & thrilled ladies withstood the scorching temperature to participate in the selection trial process. The selection trials was called upon in order to prepare the Kuwait Women ’ s U-19 cricket team for the forthcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Women ’ s championship to take place at Singapore.
It was indeed a great pleasure to find so many young girls appearing for the selection trials. |

The selection trials are still opened and will be in progress for a couple of weeks more and interested lady cricketers or their parents can approach Kuwait cricket officials at Doha Entertainment city grounds on June 12 morning at 7 AM for registering their names. Kuwait Cricket would like to hold open trials to provide a fair chance to all lady players. |

The selected probable’s will be trained by a three member ACC trained women coaches and other experienced coaches who will provide the girls with all the technical know-how and match fitness to get them to their target.
The probable ’ s are to be short listed to 20 at a later stage, from which a final 14-member Kuwait team would be selected to play in the ACC U-19 Women ’ s tournament in Singapore. For further details please contact Mr. Asad Baig on 97158856.

Kuwait women cricket team to participate in Singapore

Kuwait Cricket, under the astute leadership of H.E. Sheikh Dari Fahd Al Ahmed Al-Sabah has immense pleasure in inviting Under 19 women cricketers to participate in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship which is to be held at Singapore in the first week of October 2010.
The probable players willing to attend the selection trials should be a resident of Kuwait for a minimum period of two years and the cutoff date for calculating the residence in Kuwait is 22.09 2010 and should be under 19 years of age (Born on and after 01.09.1991) which is the eligibility criteria for selection set by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Women cricketers who falls under the above mentioned age category are quested to attend the coaching camp which is to be launched at the Kuwait Entertainment City ground from May 29, 2010 onwards. Newcomers who are interested to take up cricket and play for Kuwait are also invited to join the training camp. The participants will undergo vigorous intensive training in order to prepare themselves for playing at the highest level of cricket.
Experienced & qualified Lady Coaches of Kuwait cricket will guide the participants to practice perfect cricket techniques and teach about maintaining a healthy diet, fitness and an opportunity to play against International teams, either at home or away in the sub-continent. The program is focussed on specific areas of cricketing skills such as batting skills, fast bowling, spinning and fielding techniques.

Kiran International defeated Agility by 16 runs to be the champions of Gulf Consult Trophy 2010 played last Friday. Kiran International won the toss and elected to make the use of the pitch first scored 151 runs for the lose of seven wickets in allotted 20 overs. Adnan and Zeshan opened the inning but unfortunately Adnan could not open the account as he was brilliantly caught and bowled by Irfan Bhatti. Kashif who joined Zeshan made valuable contribution by scoring 70 runs for the second wicket partnership before Kashif become the first victim of Nasir at his individual score of 16 runs Saim Shibli added another 15 runs before being given LBW by Irfan Bhatti, while Farooq and Aamir Rana were the other batsman could enter into double figure by scoring 132 and 10 runs respectively. Zeshan Sabri showed his class by showing his batting prowess all around the wicket, being the highest scorer with 38 runs. Irfan Bhatti claimed 3 vital wickets after giving away 25 runs in his full quota of 4 overs while Nasir grab 2 for b15 and Waqar bags 1 for 31 runs.

I reply Agility could muster only 129 runs before being all out in the 20 th over. Thanks to Skipper Farooq’s devastating spell who role over the Agility batting line up capturing 4 wickets for only 20 runs having very rear hat trick. For agility Irfan Bhatti Scored aggressive 58 runs in 41 balls before becoming the victim of Adnan while Umer Salahuddin could resist a little bit the on the penetrating bowling of Kiran International scored 31 in 39 balls. Farooq claim 4 for 20 in three overs, Adnan 3 for 21 in four overs. |

At the presentation ceremony Asad Baig the Director General of Kuwait Cricket was the guest of honor presented the winner’s trophy to Kiran International Skipper Farooq while Mahboob Khan gave the runners up trophy to Agility along with the individual prizes to both the participating teams. Riaz Choudhry the Director Umpiring of Kuwait Cricket thanks all the participating teams to show high klevel of sportsman spirit and the full co operation to the organizers to make this event a success. He very especially thanked to the Umpires and grounds men for the wonderful and highly professional performances |

Afghanistan once again proved to be the number one cricket nation amongst the non-test playing nations in the Asian region and added another feather to their cap by capturing the ACC Elite trophy. In the final played at Hubara ground on April 9, 2010, Afghanistan defeated Nepal by 95 runs to be the new champions. A record capacity 0f 7000 Afghan supporters had gathered from the early hours of Friday to watch their favorite team in action and the mighty Afghanistan cricketers never let their supporters down. |

Kuwait Cricket announce the Kuwait National Cricket team for the ACC Trophy (Elite) 2010. The players have been nominated by the five member Selection Committee approved by the KC Council and Board member Mr. Haider Farman  .

KUWAIT TO HOST ACC TROPHY ELITE 2010 |
Kuwait Cricket has added another feather in their cap as they are all set to host the ACC trophy Elite 2010 for the first time. Incidentally, the ACC Elite trophy is rated as the biggest tournament in the history of Kuwait cricket so far. Kuwait has the tradition of hosting Gulf Cup in 2004, Middle East trophy 2006, first ever ACC T20 trophy in 2007 and the ACC U-19 Elite trophy in 2009.The fixtures have been announced for the ACC Trophy Elite 2010 to be played at KOC grounds, Ahmadi, Kuwait Entertainment City ground & Sulaibiya ground between March 31st and April 9th. The ten-team tournament has Bhutan competing at the senior elite-level for the very first time since they gained promotion from the 2009 ACC Trophy Challenge.

The General Secretary and Treasurer of Kuwait Cricket, Haider Farman, announced the establishment of the Kuwait Cricket Academy for the development of young children in Kuwait to learn this enjoyable game, one of the most popular in the world, opening a new era in the history of Cricket in Kuwait. The Academy has been inaugurated with the intention of providing free coaching to all children both Kuwaitis and expatriates who wish to learn this popular sport. It will also help Kuwait to build formidable teams at various age levels to participate in International events more competently in future. The Academy is being run by Cricket Australia trained and ACC certified coaches, who are members of the Kuwait Cricket Coaches Panel.  |
