Gulf Consult recently inaugurated their prestigious league based tournament for 2005-06 season for - the MK (Electric) Cricket Trophy - at their Cricket Grounds located in Sulaibiya Area. This is the second consecutive year this tournament has been sponsored by the Kuwait Electrical Wiring Accessories Co. (MK Electric). In the best interests of emerging new and emerging teams, the tournament had been designed in a way whereby the eighteen participating teams have been divided into three groups playing each other in the first phase of the tournament.
The completion of the first phase of the tournament will determine each teams standing in the group. Thereafter the top from each group together with team, the best second team gathers to play cup semi finals and then Final. Similarly the two other second position teams and the best two third position teams of groups contest for Plate semifinal and final.
On behalf of Gulf Consult Mr. Jeff de Lange thanked MK (Electric), especially their Managing Director Mr. Peter Woods, for their positive sponsorship and support in developing cricket standards in Kuwait. He congratulated all the participating teams and thanked them for their co operation in making this event a great success.
In the inauguration match, Indian Strikers beat Streams Cricket Eleven by 130 runs. After winning to toss Streams captain Regi elected to field first. Rony and Adrian who opened the inning for Indian Strikers could not face the attack of opponents and at one stage they were 20/2 in 4 overs Luis and Lashantha came to the crease and smashed all Streams bowlers at will all around the ground to establish a 103 run partnership for the third wicket before being seprated in 15 th over. After the departure of Lashantha another partnership of 53 run between Indian Strikers captain Arun Rebello (40) and Luis (57) helped them to set a modest target of 233/6 in the allotted 25 overs.

In reply Streams could manage only 103 runs before being all out in 20.2 overs Main Scorers who could enter into double figure were Kurien 19 and Mathai 15, whereas Lashanta grabbed 12/3 and Adrian took 23/3 in 5 overs quota.
The tournament is being conducted by Mr. Naresh Dsouza of Gulf Consult under the able guidance of Mr. Jeff de Lange (Deputy Chief Executive – Finance of Kuwait Cricket Association) and Mr. Asad Baig (Deputy Chief Executive – International Affairs of Kuwait Cricket Association).
