Gulf Consult inaugurates prestigious KBRC trophy |

Kuwait, Tuesday 22nd January ’2008, Gulf Consult Cricket Committee under the patronage of Ms. Najla Hamad T. Alghanim - Chairman , Mr. Ubed Arain, CEO and Managing Director and a Mr. Jeff de Lange, Deputy Managing Director hosted the inauguration ceremony of the prestigious KBRC Trophy a league based cricket tournament staged by the Gulf Consult at their newly constructed Cricket Ground located in Jaleeb Al Shouyoukh Area in which twelve teams will participate divided into two groups to brush their shoulders to clinch the title, the tournament will be played on the round robin league bases.
The tournament has been sponsored by the Kuwaiti British Readymix Company (KBRC) for the eleventh consecutive year. It is worth mentioning that the KBRC tournament has a special place in Kuwait’s cricketing history as it was the first ever 50 overs full-day cricket tournament in Kuwait. This has all possible because of the generous support of Mr. Danny Reynolds the General Manager of KBRC, who is very keen in developing the noble game of Cricket in Kuwait especially among Kuwaitis. Mr. Danny was the guest of honor of the occasion to inaugurate the tournament by hitting the first ball of the match followed by the cake cutting ceremony. |

On behalf of Gulf Consult Mr. Jeff de Lange thanked Kuwait British Readymix company’s Management especially Danny Reynolds for the sponsorship and support shown to develop the cricket standard in Kuwait he also thanked him for the encouragement and help he extended for Kuwait Cricket Association (KCA) time to time. He also thanked all the participating teams to make this event a great success.
He also presented a plaque on behalf of Gulf Consult to Mr. Iftikhar Hussain Bhatti, the out going media officer of Kuwait Cricket Association who is leaving Kuwait for good, to acknowledge his valuable contribution and support to the Kuwait cricket in his stay of 26 years in Kuwait and specially serving Kuwait Cricket Association for six years he also prays All mighty God to bless him in his future endeavors |

| Asad Baig Chairman of Gulf Consult cricket committee and DCE ( Int. Affairs) of Kuwait Cricket Association stated that Mr Bhatti is a very committed gentleman who performed his cricketing duties with distinction, I have no hesitation to say that he was an asset to Kuwait cricket and it is not an easy task for KCA to find his replacement easily. He wished him health, success and prosperity in future. |
In the inaugural match Salmiya defeated Alghanim by 107 runs. Making the first use of the crease Salmiya scored 349 runs for the loss of ten wickets, Yasir Scored 82 runs while Shamshad added 78 vital runs while Yasin’s and Khalid scored 76 and 52 runs respectively . ulfat grab 4 for 67 in 9 overs. Replying the modest target set by salmiya Alghanim culd manage only 242 rung before being all out in 43rd over awarding the match to Salmiya by 107 runs the notable scorer of Alghanim were Ishtiaq 48, Afzal 46 Saod 24 and Ulfat 23, Saud Qamar capture 3 49,Bilal grab 2 for 36.
The match was supervised by Mahmoud Rashid and Mustafa Kazi. The Ceremony was attended by all top class cricket administrators of Kuwait along with the officials of Kuwait Cricket Association. |
